Time to Act for Onshore Wind
“In Scotland voters are more than twice as likely to withhold their vote from political parties opposing onshore wind development.” Johnnie Andringa CEO of Gaia- Wind said: "We know that there is great support for farm scale wind projects out there, but many potential investors do worry about the future level of support from Governments.”
These comments coincide with the launch of Action for Renewables' campaign 'Stand Up for Wind'.
Stand up for Wind is a campaign by Action for Renewables to encourage the silent majority in favour of wind power to make their voices heard.
Opinion polls consistently show strong support for wind power among the general public, but these voices are often drowned out by a noisy minority which relies on myths and misinformation. Stand up for Wind aims to dispel some of these myths as well as showing how the advantages that wind power brings to the British economy, environment and society.
Wind is a natural resource which Britain has in abundance and this country is at the forefront of harnessing wind, providing energy security for generations to come. Wind power helps to reduce our carbon emissions which are a key cause of climate change. Meanwhile, the wind power industry supports thousands of jobs as well as contributing millions to the British economy every year.
The campaign is currently only based on the Action for Renewables Facebook page but do keep an eye on the page for new developments
