At Gaia-Wind this week we’ve been delighted to announce positive results thanks to continued sales growth and investment in our UK manufacturing.
The last year has been a challenging sales environment for small wind turbine manufacturing in general due to a number of factors, but I am proud that here at Gaia-Wind we have made excellent progress. Since moving our headquarters from Denmark to Glasgow in 2006, we have generated more than 30 jobs in our UK company, not to mention the immediate service and supply chain, and there is the potential to double this figure in the coming years.
Sales of one turbine per week in 2009 have now grown to 250 turbines in 2011 and we’re aiming for double this in 2012.
I believe that our results reflect a positive step-forward for the UK’s developing small wind turbine industry as a whole. The Scottish Government for one has stated its ambition to see every farm in Scotland benefitting from renewable energy and Gaia-Wind intends to play its part in achieving this goal.
