Research, Design & Engineering Manager

Specifically, you will be responsible for:

• Leading the design and development of the systems’ performance of company’s wind turbines
• Proposing development projects to meet company objectives
• Working with key suppliers and partners to execute approved projects and contribute to the effective exploitation of completed projects
• Planning and management of prototype test programs to enhance current design and develop new products
• Input to and managing R,D&E budget
• Anticipating major technological advances in wind turbine design, to ensure the company’s competitive edge
• Leading, guiding and supporting the R, D&E team in order to develop their expertise and contribution to the company
• Investigating and resolving customer issues rlating to reliability, performance and quality
• Achieving and maintaining relevant certification required for the wind turbine sector

Reporting to the CEO, the successful applicant will ideally have:

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical (Design) Engineering, with extensive ‘full development cycle’ experience in the development and engineering of wind turbines
• Strong technical background with wide knowledge of aerodynamics, mechanical, electrical and control aspects of wind turbine design (experience at a supervisory / management level would be an advantage)
• Proven success with multi-disciplined systems’ engineering projects
• Well-developed analytical, design and problem solving skills
• Demonstrable ability to interpret technology / market trends as a foundation for technology and product roadmaps
• Working knowledge of manufacturing and production methodology, materials and material mechanics

The successful candidate will receive in house product and skills training.
