Electrical and Control Engineer
We are seeking a highly motivated team player to join our Research and Design team at our Glasgow office.
The 3 phase induction generator of our turbine feeds directly into the electricical grid and a controller is monitoring and regulating this operation. The successful candidate will be working on these components; induction generator, switch gear, power electronics and grid connection, with specific responsibility for:
- Design and engineer improvements for the electrical systems in the turbine
- Assure that grid compliance requirements (G83/G59, EN50438) and further electrical safety and certification (CE marking) are obtained and maintained
- Design and improve the electrical switchgear and power systems
- Design, generic and specific, customer wiring diagrams
- Specify components and sub assemblies for purchasing
- Support train and liaise with distributors, suppliers and institutions
- Travel both within the UK and internationally in carrying out the role
Reporting to our Research, Design & Engineering Manager, the successful applicant will, ideally:
- Have an HND or equivalent, in electrical and/or control engineering
- Be very familiar with 17th edition wiring regs, or be a qualified electrician
- Have a demonstrable track record in a similar job: having worked with 3 phase systems; and / or power electronics, preferably grid inverters for renewable energy systems
- Be experienced in working with grid standards, codes and certification (preferably within a Quality Management System environment)
- Couple theoretical knowledge to practical experience to provide working solutions.
The successful candidate will receive in house product training.
